Check your Ego at the Door

Poker can be a hard game to master but don't think that if you win a couple games that you are god's gift to the game. Keep your ego in check. Which means don't get too cocky. Remember, 'pride goeth before the fall'.

Keep the right mindset when playing. This also means don't get too emotional. Yes, you are going to lose some of the time but suck it up. Not only is being overly emotional unsportsman-like, it will usually leads to you making bad judgements at the table.
